PHOTOSHOPPING IMAGES

Updated: May 23, 2022

I started out with using simple filters, experimented within photoshop and what things I could create yet settled for a lot of these filters which aligned with my theme a lot better.

These simple filters really added a touch to this project like the muted sepias bring out this image, if not for the quality I think this would be increasingly authentic and stick to the theme. Like how high quality this is.

For research sake we tried to make this photo as close to the original filter which includes how Edward was killed and is in direct reference to that. This image makes it seem more true crime because of how many callbacks to authentic procedures are carried out like the precaution of picking up the sock in the first place and how there's something next to this to conclude that it's essential evidence like the bank card which swiftly concluded who Tracey Wigginton is and is a callback to how she willingly confessed to everything that she carried out with, conflicting with the statement that she may feel guilty and professed pride in her work.

how effective a simple filter is within this shot as it adds much more energy and also makes these colours more muted, giving it more of an effect.

I also edited these photos trying to set them in this vampiric theme that I have.

I used different brushes and effects to make this more poster like, I wanted to not glorify yet give this movie a serious tone because of how brutal it was.

This muted effect is mostly shown in horror films too, like how the sepia gives off a feeling as if it came from 1980's which is where it's set back in. Because most of the technology was primitive and wasn't as good as most photos from nowadays. I added an overlay like a scratch effect to deplete the quality slightly, because of how old this seems it adds to the eeriness and makes it seem more like a fable. As if it's not real.

I wanted to do one of the most brutal murders of all time justice, like how he was killed and his body was found was increasingly disturbing. Police state that it's one of the most horrific ways a man has been killed to date. A callback and a reference to how Tracey was found is relevant to the case.

This photo also implements a lot of the materials police use, for example the paper behind this sock marks this as essential evidence and important to the case.

Mixing in a lot of the colours, I also blended each of the filters to match within this color scheme the red feels very animated due to the motion blur I added this adds noise within the background and a soft fade. Red and black is usually associated with vampires, in reference to when I did my research on most vampire themes as in how they like to overuse most of these effects to their advantage. Yet on this image to increase the variety. We shot this with a lot more red light above the knife, mostly this technique is used to make someone

I used a blur as well to make the photo seem more mysterious, there's only a hint of other colours making this piece a solid colour photo. This filter goes well with the photo and compliments this style of photography because it contrasts the high quality, the tangent of black of her hair also compliments this because it contrasts most of the colours juxtaposing this piece. However the gradient between red and beige really fits.

This image also fits into a lot of the codes and conventions of old horror/thriller movies, I mixed in a lot of effects to darken the background making the subject or the focal point of the camera stand out within muted reds. Blending this in together I feel this makes the image more eye catching.

This photograph has a lot more sinister undertones due to the brush tool used and implemented in photoshop this gives the image a more unclear feel as it fizzes, whats also interesting to take note is how the light blurs and highlights the knife she's holding. Her face is also very unclear giving her a very sinister and vampire like appearance akin to something in dracula the small highlights of colour also adds character and depth to this photo. Like the muted pinks which really compliment the solid black background it's sort of a callback to found footage.

This image also feels as if it would be a wanted poster because of how muted these colours are and in junction to fizzed backgrounds these high volume colours juxtapose this filter in a really nice way.

this is also quite similar however it features more high definiton attributes as the face, knife is more visible.

Yet the colours are really more in high definition for example the knife is the focal point which is in reference to how it's the murder weapon and important for the story of the case, how Edward was stabbed 27 times.

These muted and also fizzy colours are more so a reference to found footage like the blair with project. I've also tried to research the elements that make these photos really pop they seem original because of the slight fizz on the camera which really alters the look of the photo. The pink shade in this photo also clashes with the black and white tones, making it more vibrant in contrast. Also because of the blood found on Tracey wigginton's breath and near her car, we used fake blood to make her seem like she really could be the Vampire killer. The particular shine of the knife makes it all the more noticable and the focal point of the photograph, multiple posing was done to really make these photos shine.

This photo was taken in homage to the fact that Tracey's bank card was found in a sock. This isn't exactly a replica of the photo however has similar sort of style to the bank card found in the socks yet isn't in fully black and white. Another photo was taken in a similar position yet outlines how similar it is akin to the photo taken to display Tracey's ID.

This image, is in homage to the low quality back in the 80's and 90's when the crime took place. I wanted to make it feel like this image is really from back when which is why I reduced the quality of this image to simulate the fact that it came from dated technology, and how they couldn't capture a crisp image. The way that this is shot makes the focal point the sock and the bank card. It deduces what this is.

I've included a black and white filter and touched upon stretched the image and made the true focus the bank card.

A lot of these feature minimal to no colour, or rather include a grainy effect straining the image and making it hard to look at. I tried to replicate this effect amongst this photography because I believe it looks more focused and authentic, much similar to how the blair witch project includes a lot of evidence from that time.
